Previous Experience

Guy has been working in the environmental sector for 16 years.  He started out in a development role with the London Environment Centre then went on to work with Aberdeen City Council developing firstly a range of community environmental initiatives, then internal environmental policy and strategy.  After this he took a role with the Scottish Environment Protection Agency as Waste Strategy Officer, then moved on to become a Senior Business Adviser and Project Manager with the Business Environment Partnership. Guy has been with Synergie for two years.

Skills and expertise

Guy is a Chartered Wastes Manager (MCIWM) with experience ranging from the development and implementation of small community waste prevention projects through to coordinating local authority and multi-authority waste policies and strategies.  His focus on waste prevention has evolved in recent years to encompass energy and water as well as material resources, and he now offers a strong practical skills base in business resource efficiency, based on a proven track record to generate tangible bottom line benefit.  Having worked closely with community groups, local authorities, government agencies and departments and businesses large and small, Guy has a unique insight into mechanisms and barriers to delivering sustainability.  He also trained in environmental auditing techniques and holds a number of certifications including Approved Certifier of Design with the Building Research Establishment. Guy is currently developing a portfolio of embedded renewable energy and carbon reduction projects.
