Scottish Government increases country's renewable target to 80% by 2020

This pledge comes on the back of the publication of Scottish Renewables’ paper ‘Driving the Low Carbon Economy: Renewing Our Ambitions’ which showed that Scotland can go beyond the current objective of 50 per cent of electricity demand being met from renewable generation by 2020, with even modelling of small proportions of planned investments in offshore wind, wave, tidal and biomass, and a small percentage of our potential additional hydro resource.
